Incident Report Description

Lamitan, Basilan (May 10, 2010) - Violence erupted in Sumisip, Basilan between supporters of a vice mayoralty candidate and elements of the Marines. The two camps engaged in gunfights after reports that supporters of Lakas-Kampi candidates were said to have prevented ballots from reaching around twenty (20) barangays. It was also reported that official ballots have not been released in these barangays and that batteries of PCOS machines are already running low.

As of this report, two (2) marines have already been wounded.
